About FICL!

The Florida Interscholastic Cycling League (FICL) was founded in 2018 as a non-profit (501(c)(3) Project League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). We facilitate the development of high school and middle school teams/clubs for grades 6-12 and provide the education, training, licensing, and insurance for coaches and volunteers.

We also produce high-quality mountain bike events and races that emphasize the value of participation, camaraderie, positive sporting behavior, and well-being over competition.

The focus in 2018 and 2019 was on coach training, NICA GRiT and development of our race series. The 2020 season was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the season being canceled after the first race. In 2021, we were excited to return to play and expanded our programming to include NICA Teen Trail Corps (trail maintenance) and NICA Adventure.

Now, entering our 2024 season we are continuing to expand our programs with more GRiT and Adventure activities, all geared towards getting more kids on bikes!

Vision

Our vision is to improve the lives of Florida’s youth and communities through cycling.
