Teen Trail Corps

Trail Work. Advocacy. Partnership.

The Teen Trail Corps (TTC) program cultivates community as we foster the next generation of trail stewards and advocates.

Student-athletes and their teams learn the value of community service and make their communities better places to live and play by maintaining local trails.

When we give back to trails we become more connected to the places we ride, we contribute amazing things to our communities in health, wellness, and economic benefits, and we grow as people through our service!

TTC Opportunities

Trail work and mountain biking go hand in hand. We build strength as we work the trails, mind as we learn about construction, and character as we engage with others across our community. Working something with our hands and tools and then hopping on our bike to ride that thing is a pretty fantastic feeling, too.

Every FL NICA student-athlete can become a TTC Captain by using their unique skills and interest to complete a trail-related project. The project might directly contribute to local trails, but it may also support a local trail system or organization in their efforts such as fundraising, social media, networking, and more.

TTC gives back to you, too, through awards. FL NICA celebrates those among us who really dig in by recognizing leaders and our most prolific trail stewards. You don’t have to race to be in the running for these awards; all recognition is open to all registered FL NICA student-athletes.

TTC engagement also helps your team towards the TTC Championship team award and overall Maxwell Team of the Universe end of season award. Be sure to log your TTC hours with your team’s TTC Coach, NOW!

The TTC program provides education, resources and activities promoting trail stewardship and advocacy. All student athletes and coaches within the league are encouraged to participate in TTC activities locally and at league events. Time dedicated to hands-on trail work are tracked as “TTC hours,” which are recorded in PitZone by each team’s TTC coach. Many different types of activities count for TTC hours, including trail maintenance, trail building with an official local organization, trash cleanups and attending advocacy meetings. Student athletes that attain a certain number of hours over the course of the season qualify for our TTC awards! FL NICA sets a season-long goal for TTC hours and a “Trail Week”-specific stretch goal. Season 7’s Trail Week will be March 13-21, 2027! Student athletes and teams with the most accrued TTC hours are recognized each season.
